Before we go into this post, we’d like to remind you of one of our values…
“Authentic: It’s easy to say you’re going to do good things. It's not so easy to actually do them. So, we follow through. We walk the walk. We never just pay lip service. That includes making sure we always follow our values.”
Over the next couple of weeks, we're going to be introducing you to different schemes and initiatives we have incorporated into all aspects of 5V that are keeping us committed and helping us put our values where our mouth is.
So, with that being said, we're excited to finally be able to talk to you about...BCORP.
At the start of 2022, we started our B Corp certification journey. For those of you who may not know, certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. Unlike other certifications for businesses, BCorp is unique in its ability to measure a company’s entire social and environmental impact.
In order to achieve our certification, we will need to demonstrate high social and environmental performance and we will need to achieve a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and pass our risk review.
We're happy to tell you that we submitted our B Impact Assessment back in August and are in the process to be considered for BCorp certification.
This is super important for us to put proof into what we say and also to build a stronger, better, more sustainable business!
We couldn't talk about our BCorp journey without mentioning Andy Hawkins. Andy heads up 'Business on Purpose' , which supports businesses with BCorp and has supported 180 companies on their B Corp journey. In fact, Andy has supported 18% of all UK BCorp businesses. Honestly, he’s been a fantastic sounding board and has motivated us and inspired us on our journey. If you’re looking to make more impact with your business and explore the possibilities of BCorp – Talk to Andy.
Stay tuned for more content coming soon, which will delve deeper into the steps we’re taking to build a better business and BCorp’s role within that.
